Key
Contributors at STC Conferences
in Dallas, Baltimore, and Las
Vegas:
Members of the Carolina Chapter
of the Society for Technical
Communication (STC) figured prominently
among the session leaders and
presenters at STC's conferences
in Dallas, Baltimore, and Las
Vegas.
Ann-Marie Grissino, Keypoint’s President and Founder and
Senior STC member, led a session entitled, “Developing
and implementing e-learning.” This session provided online
course standards, tips, and tricks. Attendees commented that
the session was one of the best they had attended.
In Vegas, Grissino's presentation on creating interactive Acrobat forms was standing room only, with over 200 people attending. Conference managers asked Grissino to conduct the session again the next day.
Ann-Marie Grissino also spoke about “Applying Chinese
Principles of Honor and Face in Our Roles as Technical Communicators”
during a session entitled “Technical and Professional
Communication in China.” In this session, 15 technical
communicators—who visited China in 2002 as part of the
People to People Ambassador Program and met with their Chinese
counterparts, including the first meeting of Westerners with
the Society of Chinese Technical Communication—shared
their experiences.

Dreamweaver
in a Day Class Success:
Looking to update your resumé? During this lagging
economy, people are beefing up their skills and want to list
Dreamweaver MX as one of their skills. Dreamweaver MX, a Macromedia
application, enables nonprogrammers to design and author Web
pages.
Ann-Marie Grissino, President
of Keypoint Consultants, taught
Dreamweaver to a packed house.
The course provided “excellent
information in a well-paced,
fun class,” critiqued
one attendee. This course was
sponsored by the Society for
Technical Communications, Carolina
Chapter.

Speaker
at STC Carolina's Program:
Technical Communication in China. Ann-Marie Grissino, President,
Keypoint Consultants, presented Applying Chinese Principles
of Guanxi and Mianzi in Our Roles as Technical Communicators.
In China, relationships are the basis for getting and maintaining
work per Grissino. Grissino shared her experiences from a recent
trip to China as part of the People to People Ambassador Program
where she and other technical communications delegates visited
top-rated universities, considered the “Harvard’s
of China.” This session provided 10 practical ways of
applying Chinese principles of guanxi and mianzi with our work
peers and associates. |
